The GoCoax MoCA adapters are configured to be on the same subnet as my TP-Link Router. This is my configuration:ĭownstairs: Wall -> Splitter -> (A) Frontier MoCA Adapter | (B) GoCoax MoCA1. However, when I hook it up for actual use, the MoCA lights do not turn on. In that configuration, when the MoCA adapters are connected to each other with a short coax cable, the MoCA light turns on and everything appears to work. I configured both MoCA adapters by connecting them directly to my PC. The NVG468MQ would not require a coax connection, nor should it be connected to your coax plant. With the two MoCA adapters at the router location (one for a WAN connection, the other acting as your LAN bridge), you'll need to use a MoCA 2.0-compatible 2-way splitter to get them both connected to your coax wall outlet. So, you'd need/want a retail goCoax WF-803M MoCA 2.5 adapter (or equivalent) at the router location to function as your main MoCA/Ethernet LAN bridge, and then additional retail goCoax adapters at each remote location where you're looking to extend wired network connectivity - with all the retail goCoax adapters configured to operate at the D-High frequency range, and they may need to have privacy enabled, as well (not sure on this last bit). Ok, so that router has a built-in standard MoCA 2.0 bridge for MoCA LAN connectivity, but standard MoCA 2.0 maxes at 400 Mbps (single channel only) and I'm not sure that the NVG468MQ's MoCA bridge can be configured to operate at the alternate D-High frequency range, regardless. It has a Frontier logo on it and the model number is "Frontier FCA251." It has one coax plug on it, one USB-C port, and one Ethernet port.Ĭan I just buy, for example, an ActionTec MoCA adapter and plug it into the coax upstairs and it'll magically work? I've been reading for hours about this and I don't know if I need a splitter and a second MoCA adapter before the router? Or what? What do I need in order to utilize one of those coax outlets for another MoCA adapter? The current Frontier-supplied MoCA adapter, attached to the Frontier-supplied router, is a Frontier-branded MoCA adapter. On my second floor there are a couple of coax outlets. I'd like to switch to ethernet over Coax.Ĭurrently, my setup is Coax->Frontier MoCA device->Frontier Router ethernet port->TP-Link Router->other devices. I am currently using a Powerline adapter to supply wired internet to my second story, but it's extremely unreliable and the signal drops/de-syncs about once or twice a day.
